Last Call aims to eliminate restaurant food waste

Every night, because their extra food won’t last until morning, restaurants are forced to add to the growing food waste epidemic. Last Call is a late night delivery service that aims to help restaurants reduce food waste, while giving customers the food they want at discounted prices.

A push notification alerts you when the app opens for the night.

You enter your delivery address.

Menu items populate based on your location.

Restaurants list what fresh items they have left to sell at a discounted price before they have to be thrown out.

Meals are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Easy as that.

Developed by Becca Antonucci, a copywriter at Deutsch, and her partner Taejun Park, an art director at JWT, the duo are looking for outside help to get the service up and running.

Becca told me that building the app is much less of a challenge than building the infrastructure needed for the service to work. Ideally, they want to partner with food ordering services such as Seamless or UberEATS, so rather than starting from scratch they’d be able to add an “earth-friendly” option to those services.

Stellar idea.

  1. Love this idea (and hopefully, future successful company). We need more companies like this to solve some of the challenges of the modern world. I was actually thinking of doing something similar in my country, but again, infrastructure is going to be a big component (depending on which market you’re attempting to grow in).

  2. Here in Finland we have a similar service called ResQ already working 🙂 https://resq-club.com

  3. Wonderful to see this being done, hoping the idea spreads…
