“We printed this locally. It’s a regular commercial printer; they do anything from business cards to catalogs to books. You could easily print this in China at a good price with a printer that specializes in books. We’ve done this but the process is just kind of crappy and although the production part is quick, the shipping takes forever. Any decent printer in Europe can handle a book like this or even like your book. We paid $15,000 for 2,000 copies; in China it would have been around $6,000.”
“The cover is a special Neenah Paper yellow stock. You could probably do some of those colorful G . F Smith papers and that would be the equivalent. The inside is standard white coated paper; whatever the printer uses as their “house” stock, meaning it’s affordable and decent since they keep reams of it. In an ideal world we would use a nicer paper but it’s the guts of the book that get really expensive.”
“There is a great company in the US called Uline, and they have anything you would want for shipping. We use these and then use tape to close it up. What’s nice about these boxes is that it has multiple scores on the sides so you can send 1, 2, 3, even 5 books in one box.”
